Apprenticeship Program

The Polytech Adult Education CDL Class A Training prepares students to earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A license, enabling them to drive all classes of commercial vehicles. The program is offered on a part-time evening basis and prepares participants for the written exam, yard training, including vehicle inspection and on-site driving in a controlled environment, and supervised over-the-road driving.

Prerequisites

Clean driving record and a valid DE driving license.

Before enrollment, students will need to provide a copy of the following items:

  • Driver’s license
  • CDL Learner’s Permit
  • DOT Physical (Paid for by the student)
  • Driving Record (Obtained through the DMV)
  • Background Check
  • Drug Screen

Wilmington University’s STEP PathTM is the Smart Transfer Enrollment Program to gain or complete a degree, no matter where you start with your apprenticeship. This unique pathway for journey people maximizes success and minimizes both the cost and time to degree completion.

An apprenticeship program works as a perfect stackable credential toward furthering your education. Journeypeople who complete a Department of Labor-registered apprenticeship and choose WilmU’s STEP PathTM can earn up to 42 academic credits* toward a WilmU degree program, including WilmU’s B.S. in Applied Business.

CDL Class A

The Polytech Adult Education CDL Class A training prepares students to earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A license, enabling them to drive all classes of commercial vehicles. The program includes preparation for the written exam, yard training, including vehicle inspection and on-site driving in a controlled environment, and supervised over-the-road driving. Classes run for 12 Weeks, including 24 weeknights, 5 – 9pm, and 8 Saturdays, 8am – 4:30pm. Specific entrance requirements will be reviewed during program information session.
