Healthcare has consistently ranked among the top Delaware industry sectors in terms of the number of total new jobs and competitive wages. Polytech Adult Education provides a range of healthcare training options designed to prepare participants to enter this growing field. Programs offered include: Practical Nursing, Phlebotomy, CNA, Home Health Aide, Insurance Billing, Medical Coding, and Medical Assisting.

Polytech Adult Education offers operations training in the areas of information technology and supervision. IT is Polytech’s fastest growing area with programs offering in IT Fundamentals, Computer Support/Help Desk, Networking, and Cybersecurity. Polytech also offers a Supervision and Leadership program that is designed to prepare those who are already employed for greater areas of professional responsibility and organizational advancement.

Polytech Adult Education offers a State of Delaware approved driver’s education course to students who are between 15 years, 6 months and 18 years of age. Priority is given to students who do not have access to a driver’s education program through the school they are enrolled in.

Polytech offers FREE daytime and evening English language classes throughout Kent County for adults whose first language is not English. In the English Learners in New Careers (ELiNC) program, adult English language learners can build their English language skills while preparing for a career as a mechanic, forklift operator, electrician, HVAC-R mechanic, plumber, customer service representative or home health aide.

The construction trades continue to be Polytech Adult Education’s most popular program area and offer many opportunities for new employment and professional advancement. Polytech provides Registered Apprenticeship programming and continuing education opportunities in the areas of: Electrical, HVAC-R, Plumbing, Electronic Systems, and Construction Laborer.

Polytech Adult Education offers a variety of customized and contract training options that align with each of the program areas offered (Maintenance, Construction, Healthcare, Logistics, and Operations). This option allows employers to design a specific curriculum, schedule, and delivery model that works best for their unique needs.

Transportation and Logistics has been identified as a key component to the economic success of our region and has been targeted as an area for strategic growth. Polytech Adult Education prepares professionals to work in this vital field through training programs in Forklift and Warehouse Operations and CDL-A.

Polytech Adult Education prepares technicians with the advanced training and skills required to thrive in an increasingly complex maintenance environment. Polytech offers workforce training and Registered Apprenticeship programs in: Industrial Maintenance, Automotive Technician, Diesel Repair, Water, Wastewater, CAD, and Aircraft Maintenance.

Polytech offers several options for adult learners to earn their high school credential. James H Groves Adult High School offers an accredited Adult High School program with open year-round enrollment, providing flexibility through in-person, computer-based/hybrid classes, or test out options. The ABE/GED® Preparation program enhances basic skills, offering a recognized secondary credential through GED® testing, acknowledged by the State Board of Education for employment and education purposes.
